Established in 2008, Debut Dance is conveniently located off of HWY 965 in North Liberty. At Debut, dancers are encouraged to reach for their dreams! Get your dancing shoes ready and JOIN THE DEBUT FAMILY!
It's never too early or too late to start dance! Debut Dance offers a variety of classes to students ages pre-school to high school. Choose from ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop, lyrical, pointe, modern and dance team. There is a class for everyone!
Recital is the highlight of the entire dance year! Dancers work diligently throughout the year to prepare for their big 'debut' on stage. During the first of half of the year dancers build a strong foundation in dance technique. Recital dance numbers are then introduced in the winter months and perfected the second half of the year.

Mini Musical Theater Camp
The magic of Broadway comes to life during this 4 week long camp at Debut! Dancers will expand their tap dance skills, be introduced to theater jazz, and discover theater production elements through craft related activities. Not to mention, dancers will star in their very own Broadway show at the end of the session.

Debut Dance is growing and is currently seeking experienced part-time dance instructors for Summer 2012 and the 2012-2013 Season. Applicants must be energetic, creative and versatile. Qualifications include: 1.) The ability to teach students ages 3 to 18 yr. 2.) Megan Snyder
Owner and Director of Debut Dance, Megan Snyder is passionate about kids and sharing her love for dance. Native to Iowa City, Megan graduated from the University of Iowa in 2006 with a major in Dance. While at the U of I, Megan actively pursued performance opportunities through the Dance Department and spent three years on the U of I Dance Team cheering on the Hawkeyes and competing nationally. While in college she also interned at Dance Place, a non-profit organization in Washington DC established to bring high quality dance shows to low-income neighborhoods. Shortly after graduating, Megan discovered another love... Pilates, and started training with STOTT Pilates. Megan has worked with clients of all ages and abilities. Through both mat and reformer work, Megan has helped her clients achieve their goals.
Megan plays in active roll in impacting her students at Debut by teaching most classes at her studio including ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop, lyrical and dance team. She established the Debut Dance Team, which is a special group that has doubled in size after the studio's first year of operation. Mrs. Snyder has also created a brand new group at her studio for dedicated dancers called Forte Performing Company. Forte dancers produce a formal dance show that is based on a Broadway or musical show. Along with her studio choreography, Megan also works with local schools. She has traveled to various elementary schools for hip-hop workshops and choreographs for North Central Jr. High's show choir. Megan also choreographed "Once Upon A Mattress," "Grease," and "The Wizard of Oz" for local high school theater departments in the Iowa City School District. Recently Megan co-founded, Broadway Debut, a musical theater camp and volunteers her time to teach kids about entrepreneurship.
Jen Vieira
Jen Vieira is from Elm Grove, Wisconsin and received her formal training from the Milwaukee Ballet School. During that time, she was given the opportunity to perform with the Milwaukee Ballet II, which is the trainee program of the Milwaukee Ballet. Jen graduated from the University of Iowa with a Bachelor of Arts with Honors in Dance and a Certificate in Entrepreneurship in the Spring of 2007. While at the University of Iowa, Jen had the opportunity to perform in the annual Dance Gala, many Space Place performances and in addition, she has been a member of the University of Iowa?s Dancers in Company. Jen enjoys teaching Ballet, Pointe, Modern and Lyrical, as well as choreography. Jen is excited to be teaching dance at Debut!
Erica Bohac
Erica Bohac is a junior at the University of Iowa pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Dance and the certificate for Performing Arts Entrepreneurship. She began training at the age of 11 at the Anderson-Hoxie Dance Project under the direction of Brittany Anderson-Hoxie in Waverly, Nebraska. Throughout her middle school and high school years she performed competitively with the studio's performance ensemble, trained intensively in ballet, contemporary, jazz, and tap, and taught children of all ages. Erica received the Nebraska Young Artist award in 2007 and in 2008 was selected to be a member of Celebrity Dance Competition's Crew where she performed with the faculty and assisted in the running of their Nationals competition. Throughout college, she has performed in several Space Place performances including Dance Gala 2010. Erica is Debut's dance and office intern for the Spring 2011 semester!

FORTE Performance Company
FORTE Performance Company is Debut's premier performance and competition ensemble. This award winning group has been designed to enrich the dance experience for dedicated dancers ages 10-18 yr. FORTE dancers are committed students looking to participate above and beyond Debut's recreational program. Company members should have good class attendance and arrive on time for class and performance events. Company members will be required to attend summer choreography workshops, summer bootcamp in August, and weekly rehearsals during the school year. This is a group for those that LOVE dance!!!
This year, there will be three levels of FORTE: levels 3, 4, and 5.
- Level 3 - Grades 5th and 6th
- Level 4 - Grades 7th and 8th(Jr. Hhigh)
- Level 5 - Grades 9th-12th (High School)
Dance Team
The Debut Dance Team is a special group designed for dancers that love the spotlight! Each week during dance team class, students engage in team building activities, learn fun choreography and perfect their pom technique. Throughout the school year, the Debut Dance Team performs at various events in the corridor community including: The University of Iowa Homecoming Parade, Basketball Halftime Shows and school sponsored events. To become a member of the Debut Dance Team, students must be enrolled in at least one technique class at the studio. Dancers on the dance team range from ages 5 to 16. It’s never too early or too late to join the team!
